 Dear Team, I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and return of group gatherings and pre-covid lifestyle. I wish we could have these long days all year long! While things are feeling normal in our personal worlds, they are far from back to normal in the automotive world. I mentioned a couple of months ago that the inventory shortage would be worse before it starts to turn, and that is where we find ourselves today. We currently have less than a 30-Day Supply of new vehicles across the organization and we appear to be another 30 days from any significant increase. Fortunately, demand is strong and the low supply of both new and used vehicles has dramatically improved our margins. Here is a quick look at Sales numbers through the first half of the year:
With such strong margins on the sales side of the business, we have had some record Gross Profit and Net Profit and months at several stores! Everyone has done a fantastic job of adapting the current environment and finding a way to persevere. We will continue to face parts delays, inventory shortages, transportation issues and other unexpected challenges in our business as our economy struggles to work through the process of re-opening and expanding. Please continue to stay positive and work through these challenges, and most importantly continue to look out for our guests. Nothing is more important than good communication, if you keep our customers well informed about a situation you will almost always avoid any problems. Steve COVID Vaccine While we are making great progress against COVID-19, the new “Delta” variant is thriving across the globe and in many parts of the United States. Without exception, this new variant is thriving in locations with low vaccination rates. Additionally, 99% of the deaths from COVID-19 are now in unvaccinated individuals. If you have not already done so, please get vaccinated!  Robbie Lee Anderson January 1960 - June 2021 On June 20th Cavalier lost a wonderful teammate, and an even more amazing person in Robbie Anderson. Robbie had been with Cavalier for 40 years, where she started as a secretary and worked her way up to manager, and she was the picture of professionalism at all times. She was more than just a Cavalier family member however, she was also the mother of two beautiful daughter's, Abby and Sam, who were the center of Robbie's world and have our deepest sympathies for the loss of such an amazing mother and woman. Robbie's life was full of memories made on her boat, on her travels, and at the beach spending precious time with those she loved most in this world. While Robbie will be truly missed by all of those who were lucky enough to know her, we will never forget her infectious smile and will hold her positive spirit forever in our hearts. 
Scholarship Presentation Every year the Cavalier Auto Group awards seven impressive High School seniors from local Chesapeake Public High Schools with a $1,000 college scholarship. This years recipients proved to be an even more admirable group than those from previous years, as they had to overcome the difficulties of spending the majority of their junior and senior years online, at home with little to no hands on learning opportunities due to Covid 19, not to mention all of the memorable events that happen in a typical senior year that they had to miss out on. Despite this huge obstacle, these youngsters preserved and will attend prestigious Universities and Colleges like William & Mary, Duke, UVA, Penn State, UNC Chapel Hill and Virginia Tech. As most of you know this philanthropic endeavor is just one of many local charitable campaigns that Cavalier is a proud to sponsor, and we are excited to be able to be getting back into helping out in our local communities with the pandemic-related regulations being lifted.
